End of October | Newsletter #16

Dear Friends,

Last week, I spoke with author Kelly Fordon about my story “The Half King” on her “Let’s Deconstruct a Story” podcast. We talked about writing a story that’s been haunting you and capturing the ineffable parts of a past time in your life. You can listen to the podcast here.

I also wanted to share the Teaching Resources Guide for This Is One Way to Dance that Abbey and I have been working on this fall. The guide includes a catalogue of the essays in Dance by type (list essays, travel essays, lyric essays, essays about place, etc) as well as writing exercises and links to additional resources, interviews, and discussion questions.

You can find a PDF of the teaching guide via my website or download it here.

I wrote this book with teachers, students, and the classroom in mind. I love teaching essay collections myself and I included notes on the background of the essays at the back of my book. If you are teaching my book or particular essays, I’m also very happy to visit your classroom or school. Please contact me at sejal.shah.inquiries @gmail.com if you’re interested in booking a visit for the spring or fall of 2022.

Warmly,

Sejal
